Reflexology is integrative and complimentary to many different treatments and therapies you may be receiving via your medical doctor or health care provider. With regular Certified Therapeutic Reflexology sessions you may discover it's possible to feel amazing as you age, and this is why I believe that.
I never thought I would become a Reflexology Therapist! However, when I experienced the healing benefits for myself in the early 2000's, I knew I HAD to learn this ancient healing modality. I wanted others to know they didn't have to suffer for so long like I had. But instead to believe as I do, that it's possible to feel great as we age and enter our 40's, 50's, 60's and beyound!
A snipet of my story goes like this. I had lived with intense pain in my body since my earliest childhood memories. In my early 20's I self medicated with over the counter pain killers so that I would be able to work. They eventually damaged my digestive system. At the same time I had been chronically ill since childhood as well, catching every bug that floated around. Some minor, some not so minor. With hindsight I can see that my immune system had become weak from extended periods of childhood abuse which had never been dealt with. In fact, I only started to acknowledge and learn how to deal with stess in a healthy way as I entered my 30's. Normal adult life stress compounded the distress I had carried from my childhood resulting in poor mental and emotional health.
Reflexology was a catalyst for me. During my Theraputic Reflexology sessions my body would start to relax and move into the parasympathetic system, where it could rest and start repairing the damage that long term stress and other influences (like over the counter pain meds) had inflicted on me. After a Theraputic Reflex session I would leave calm and actually started to feel happy again! Being calm helped me to respond to life events instead of react to them. I started to sleep better and the pain I had lived with forever was going away, and eventually stayed away! After several months of weekly sessions. My digestive issues had healed up as well!
How does is it work?
Reflexology therapy comes alongside the body's natural ability to heal and restore itself. Gently ushering the healing response of the body by encouraging it to rest a while in the parasympathetic system.
Each individual is unique, and so is the way we each respond to a hands on therapy like reflexology. The best way to know if Certified Reflexology Therapy is what you are looking for during this season of your life is to book your first session. We'll see how you respond, and we can move forward from there.
The North American way of living has a tendancy to keep us busy. Perhaps you have a family and run your our own businesses as I do. Many also volunteer time to their churches, their childrens schools or neighbourhood causes. These are all wonderful things to do. However with out time to rest and de-stress, they become a detriment to us.
Breaking the narative that it's selfish to take good care of yourself is a necessity if you want to have health and vitality in your retirement years. As well as be able to continue to do all that you want to with your time and life.
Reflexology has been a saving grace for me as I walk my life out. I wonder if you'll have the same experience? Many have entered my healing space anxious and have left calmer. Others have entered in pain and left with less pain or none at all. Yet others have entered stressed out and weary and have left rested and hopeful, ready for tomorrow.
I hope to hear from you soon,
Mary-Clara
Mary-Clara obtained her first reflexology certificate in October of 2005 when she completed the basic foot course in Winnipeg. At that time she became a certified therapist in good standing with the Reflexology Association of Canada. A title which she continues to maintain.
In 2007 she continued her studies learning Chi'n Reflexology, which introduced her to the meridian energy in the body as well as Auricular Reflexology (ear reflexology). Learning how to assist ones body
move the chi (meridian energy) so it may function optimally, transformed her basic foot reflexology knowledge, in turn allowing her the confidence to assist even more people in their health journey.
The summer of 2010 brought Mary-Clara to Halifax where she learned Thai Foot Reflexology - Shivago Komarpai Method. This form of reflexology is gentle, with the use of a special wooden tool it stimulates the meridians of the body while working from the toes to knee.
While raising her young family she continued to improve her skills in the above mentioned studies. Working with hundreds of clients allowed her to put all that she had learned into practice and hone her skills and abilities. All the while growing in her passion and appreciation for the simplicity of Reflexology.
July 2020 an intensive 35 hour course learning the first module of Nerve Reflexology as well as specific training to help sciatic, hip and knee issues. Both of these were taught in real time via live stream by Touchpoint in Copenhagen Netherlands. Nerve Reflexology is taking a scientific approach to this ancient modality. It involves learning where the nerves come up to the bones in the feet and how to apply gentle pressure in a specific way to have an immediate affect on another area of the body.
December 2020-January 2021 A 10.5 hour Nerve Reflexology course entitiled All About stress was completed. It's focus was how to help the body de-stress. The training included but was not limited to teaching on the
